Electrolysis

The only 100% permanent hair removal process presently recognized by the FDA. The goal is to treat the hair root to prevent re-growth of that particular hair using energy. We only allow appointments to be booked after the consultation is complete.

FQA

  • Electrolysis is the only FDA approved permanent hair removal method on the market today. We use a sterile probe to apply heat energy at the bottom of the hair follicle; killing the food source and germinative cells.

  • Laser is permanent hair reduction that only works on some skin tones, hair types/colors, and can only be done on certain parts of the body. Electrolysis is permanent hair removal that works on all skin tones, hair types/colors, and can be done anywhere on the body. Electrolysis is the only safe, effective, and permanent method available.

  • There are 3 Different Methods:

    1. Galvanic: Uses a chemical reaction to destroy germinative cells. Timing is in seconds, clearings are slower and it needs the right stage of hair growth.

    2. Thermolysis: Uses heat energy to destroy the germinative cells and the current is very fast (hundreds to thousands of seconds).

    3. Blend: Uses both Thermolysis and Galvanic at the same time. Using the heat to help the spread of the lye in a more effective manner.

  • There are quite a few factors that can contribute to the sensations felt during an electrolysis session; such as the client’s pain tolerance, which method is being used, the area that is being worked on, hydration level of the skin, and amount of energy being used. The feeling can be described anywhere from slight heat to tingling to a stinging sensation. For clients with a lower threshold for pain, please consider numbing creams.

  • Electrolysis is progressively permanent. Every time we clear an area there is a 60% decline in that area, meaning 60% of that hair will never grow back. That is because all hairs have different cycles of growth and not all are visible at the same time. Older hairs can be seen, but the newer hairs that will replace them might not come to the surface for 3 to 12 months. We have a mixture of new and older hairs at the surface at any given time. You will start to see a significant drop in hair density within several months and full results can take a year or two.

  • Consistency is key. We need to treat the hairs as they are coming in to get a higher percentage of decline. Depending on the size of the area and density of hair, your session can be anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 hours a week for the first 3 to 6 months. After that we can bring down the time and space out the sessions. Eventually you will be coming in for a few hairs every few months until we get them all.

  • Electrolysis is an extremely safe procedure and has very little down time. Right after treatment you may experience some redness, swelling or slight scabbing in the area that was worked on. This is perfectly normal and is our body’s way of healing itself. Some people have occasional bruising, tenderness, and in people with darker skin tones temporary pigmentation.
